Octobers hobby update
I thought i would post a diary of what i’ve been upto for the last few weeks in the hobby.
Modeling
I’ve been really busy with this. I managed to get loads of stuff done. Assembled a Mantic Dwarf army, around 200 models + half a dozen war machines. They are nice models and really easy to assemble. I was able to fly through the units. I picked up a set of the new GW cleaning tools and have been using them to tidy up the mold lines.I finished painting my Ogres. 32 Ironguts, 12 Leadbelchers and 4 plain Bulls. I have also built them some movement trays. These have been really easy to get painted. I used black dip and they have come out looking really good for the amount of time spent on them. I have started painting my Arachnarok spider after it has spent 3 months sat on my shelf half done. I built and 90% painted my garden of morr and storm of magic fulcrums. Painted 10 Dark Elf shades and finaly i have dug out my flames of war Panzerkompanie and put some finishing touches to them. I have not played flames of war for over 2 years, i’m unsure if i should look at selling the army on or try to play some more games with it.
Other
Away from gaming and modeling i have also been quite busy. I’ve listened to an audio book by Dan Abnett, Torn and Talon. I have finished my re-read of the Game of Thrones series and have now got round to starting a Dance with Dragons. Its starting pretty slow but its good to get back on the Tyrion storyline as he was absent from book 4. I’ve been playing some online poker over at www.partypoker.com. I have also been watching the new series on Fringe but i missed the first episode so i don’t really know whats going on! I’ve also been eagerly waiting for the iOS 5 update for my iPhone and iPad.
Gaming
I went to the Throne of Skulls tournament last weekend. It was a lot of fun but for the most part the games were not very hard. In the indie Tournament scene 50% of the players at a 100 player event would be ranked in the top 100. At the ToS it was more like 10%. Still, it was a fun event and i would probably go again. Away from tournaments i’ve actually managed to get a load of gaming done this month. Something like 10 games with my Dark Elves, Ogres, Vampires and Deamons. I’ve been mixing it up a little with different races since returning from the ETC.
