“Back in 2011, a guy named Dave Hiatt made a documentary called “Hammers of War,” which can be found on Youtube, for his film school senior project. He only had 17 minutes to show a 40K tournament and the passion the players had for their hobby, which turned out to not be enough time. Skip ahead to 2013, Dave and his brother Dan are looking to make a feature length sequel called “The Love of War.” They’re looking for help funding the project through Indiegogo. Please search for “The Love of War” on Indiegogo.com, and if you like what you see, donate to the cause, and share the link with your friends!” All help, whether financially or otherwise is greatly appreciated.”

BDD 138 – Split Personalities with Andy Potter

Andy Potter Cauldron of Blood

Split Personalities with Andy Potter

I have Andy Potter on the show to talk about armies that can be used with more than one army book.
Andy is the master of this on the UK tournament circuit, having an army that started out as Dark Elves, was expanded into a Storm of Chaos Cult of Slaanesh army and then grew to be Warriors of Chaos.  This army is now large enough that it could be a full 3000 points of Dark Elves vs 3000 points of Warriors of Chaos and all look like a single 6000 points force.
Andy and I chat about;
  • Armies that can double up and play as 2 different races.
  • Why you would do this?
  • What are the problems and how to overcome them?
  • What Andy did to make his army work well and look good.

To wrap up the show we run down a few of our ideas for new armies that can work along this theme.  I play it safe with Chaos Dwarves crossing with Warriors of Chaos, Dark Elves and High Elves mixing nd finally a Vampire army that can also be Bretonnia or The Empire.  Andy is more adventurus and talks about an army of Werewolves, Warriors of Chaos Marauders crossing over to Beastmen and Lizardman army with a Chaotic theme.

Here are a few pics of Andy’s army.

Daily 110 – High Elves Special Choices

High Elves Special Choices

I today’s episode I am talking about High Elves Special Choices from the MSU approach.

I compare the 3 main infantry units and talk about how 7 Swordmasters could be the optimal choice and how I prefer White Lions in 5’s with a Champion.  I talk about the way that the rest of the High Elves Special Choices can fit into an MSU list and how they compare against each other.

One of the issues with High Elves is that there special choices are similar to each other, the Tiranoc and Lion chariots and the Silver Helms and Dragon Prince units are not diverse enough in my opinion and I talk more about this during the episode.

I try to find a use for Shadow Warriors but in the end I feel that they are just best left at home and leave the shooting to the core selections.  I do have a use for Ellyrion Reavers though and think they can really work in this style of army.

Overall the High Elves Special Choices are all about the White Lions and Swordmasters backed up occasionaly by Dragon Princes.
